Saving Julia

Saving Julia

It's been a while since we've blogged so a summary is in order. (I post more frequently on Facebook at Julia Sails.) We sailed from Portland, Oregon to Hilo, Hawaii last May with our hired hands, David and Amy.  Suffice it to say we made it and the sailing was outstanding.  We learned a lot from David and Amy and Julia performed superbly.

In August, we left Julia in Hilo anchored and watched by a local friend. We traveled home to be with family and to tend to business. Next, we were celebrating Thanksgiving when the call came. Julia needed saving.

We were called away from home for the holidays to save Julia.

As I write, there are 26 knot winds in the harbor, with 30 knot gusts. White caps surrounds us - too rough to venture out in the dingy.
